INJURIES

Starts swinging bat Kirilloff (wrist) did some swinging Wednesday, which seemed to go without a setback, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact Kirilloff was placed on the 10-day injured list last week with inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist. He had a cortisone shot and appears to be making progress. However, his injury remains a worry since the 24-year-old missed significant time in 2021 after undergoing wrist surgery. There's no timetable yet for his return.

Receives cortisone shot Kirilloff (wrist) received a cortisone shot Friday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact In addition to his cortisone shot, Kirilloff underwent imaging that didn't reveal any new issues in his wrist. The 24-year-old missed significant time in 2021 after undergoing wrist surgery, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to action. However, manager Rocco Baldelli expressed optimism that Kirilloff will eventually develop a plan to manage his pain and play through the issue.

Being placed on 10-day IL Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Wednesday that Kirilloff will be placed on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist, Betsy Helfand of the...
Impact Minnesota isn't putting a timeline on his return, but given that Kirilloff's injury is related to his previous surgery, it wouldn't be surprising if he was sidelined for more than the 10-day minimum. He's expected to get imaging on the wrist and meet with team doctors in the coming days, at which point a clearer timeline for his return should emerge. Gilberto Celestino is filling in for Kirilloff in the outfield in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, but the Twins could recall Trevor Larnach from Triple-A St. Paul to serve as Kirilloff's primary replacement in left field while he's on the IL.

Gets Tuesday off Kirilloff is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact Kirilloff will take a seat after he went 1-for-15 with seven strikeouts while starting in each of the Twins' first four games. The righty-hitting Gilberto Celestino will replace the lefty-hitting Kirilloff in left field with southpaw Andrew Heaney on the hill for Los Angeles.
APRIL 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Starting in spring finale Kirilloff (knee) will start in left field and bat seventh in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox.
Impact Kirilloff was out of the lineup for the last two days with minor left knee soreness, but the injury doesn't look like it'll be anything that keeps him from playing when the Twins begin their regular season Thursday versus Seattle. The 24-year-old should be a mainstay in the lineup against right-handed pitching, seeing most of his work in left field, at first base or at designated hitter. Kirilloff showed intriguing potential as a rookie in 2021 with a .722 OPS across 231 plate appearances, but improving upon his elevated 48.8 percent groundball rate will be imperative for him to tap into the sort of power typically associated with a corner player.

Expected to return Tuesday Kirilloff (knee) is expected to return to the Twins' lineup Tuesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Kirilloff was removed from Saturday's Grapefruit League matchup due to mild left knee soreness, but he should be back in action for Tuesday's spring finale. The 24-year-old should be available for Opening Day against the Mariners on Thursday.
APRIL 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with mild knee soreness Kiriloff left Saturday's game against the Rays with mild left knee soreness, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact The fact that the Twins are calling the issue mild and his removal precautionary seemingly indicates that Kiriloff has a chance to be ready for Opening Day against the Mariners on Thursday. If the issue turns out to be something that can't be solved with a few days of rest, Brent Rooker or Luis Arraez could spend time in left field. A longer absence could also give non-roster invitees Jake Cave and Kyle Garlick the chance to make the team.

No limitations to begin spring Kirilloff (wrist) isn't expected to face any limitations to begin spring training, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Kirilloff underwent surgery on his right wrist in late July, and he was unavailable for the final few months of the 2021 campaign. However, manager Rocco Baldelli said that the 24-year-old looked good swinging a bat after reporting to spring training Friday. Baldelli indicated Kirilloff wouldn't have participated in activities if the team had any remaining medical concerns, so he should be ready to play once the Twins begin spring training games next week.
