Playoff hopes dashed by MC
Day missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship by seven strokes after recording a four-over cumulative score.
Impact
Entering the week 75th in the FedExCup Standings, Day needed a big performance in order to crack the top-70 and qualify for the playoffs. Instead, the 38-year-old Australian went over par in each of his two rounds at Sedgefield, ending with a three-over 73 second round with four bogeys, one double bogey, one birdie and an eagle. Day will end the regular season having made the cut in 11 of 17 tournaments with four top-25 finishes, with his T2 at The American Express being his lone top-5 performance. It's the first time since 2008 that Day will miss the FedExCup Playoffs, though part of that has to do with injuries that limited his tournament participation this season. The first PGA Tour event after the playoffs takes place Sept. 17 at the Bitmore Championship Asheville.

Impact
Day withdrew prior to the 3M Open and the Rocket Classic in recent weeks due to a back injury, so his status should continue to be monitored ahead of Thursday's first round at Sedgefield Country Club. Withdraws from Rocket Classic
Day (back) has withdrawn his name from the field for this week's Rocket Classic, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
Impact
Day isn't quite ready to return from the back injury that forced him to withdraw prior to last week's 3M Open as well, so he'll be replaced in the field at Detroit Golf Club by Hayden Springer.

Withdraws with back injury
Day (back) will withdraw from the 3M Open, the PGA Tour announced.
Impact
Day has battled a back injury previously this summer, one that forced him to withdraw from the U.S. Open back in June as well. Now, it's reared his ugly head once again and he'll pull out of the 3M Open. Charley Hoffman is now in the field.

MC by three strokes at The Open
Day posted a four-over cumulative score at The Open Championship to miss the cut by three strokes.
Impact
Day opened the tournament with a three-over 73 score Thursday, and any hopes of qualifying for the weekend were dashed after carding three bogeys from holes six to nine in the second round. He was fairly accurate off the tee in both rounds, but he lost 2.64 strokes with his putter in the first round and lost another 2.39 strokes in his approach play during Friday's round. The Australian has finished outside the top-35 in each of his last eight outings, including T65 at the PGA Championship and a withdraw from the U.S. Open due to a back injury. Day will tee off at next week's 3M Open, where he finished T64 in his last appearance in 2022.

T55 in return from back injury
Day closed with a one-under 69 on Sunday at the Travelers Championship to finish six-under and tied for 55th.
Impact
Day, who withdrew during his opening round at the U.S. Open due to a back injury, returned at TPC River Highlands where he lost 3.68 strokes on approach. However, Day still managed to rack up 19 total birdies across 72 holes, and he ranked T8 among the Signature Event field in driving accuracy. He'll likely tee it up next at the Genesis Scottish Open.

Day (back) is listed in the field for this week's Travelers Championship.
Impact
Day withdrew from last week's U.S. Open not long after making the turn during Thursday's opening round due to a back injury, but he's hopeful to return this week at TPC River Highlands where he tied for fourth in 2025. However, given Day's lengthy injury history, his status should continue to be monitored throughout the week.

Withdraws from U.S. Open
Day (back) withdrew from the U.S. Open during Thursday's opening round, Mark Schlabach of ESPN reports.
Impact
Day was 7 over through his first 10 holes when he decided to withdraw due to injury. He appeared to grimace during a practice swing on the 10th hole and made his decision shortly after. It's a major disappointment for the two-time runner-up at the U.S. Open, and only time will tell how long this injury will keep the 38-year-old off the links.

MC after bogey on 18th hole
Day missed the cut by one stroke at the Memorial Tournament after posting a six-over cumulative score.
Impact
Day opened the tournament with a two-over 74 that was marred by a triple bogey on the par-4 sixth hole. He was three-over through 11 holes in the second round but was still on track to make the five-over cut line. However, his 11-foot par putt on the 18th hole drifted to the right, which eliminated Day from contention. Day's putter dragged him down, especially in the second round, when he lost 1.94 strokes on the green. It was his third missed cut of the season and first since early March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Day will next tee off at the U.S. Open Championship, where he finished T23 last year and missed the cut in 2018, when the major was last hosted by Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
