Bid for first Tour win falls short Cole was defeated on the first playoff hole by Russell Henley and had to settle for second place at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Impact Cole held his first 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour after a great round of 63 on Saturday. He did not show many signs of nerves on Sunday coming out with birdies on the first two holes. His only big mistake in the final round was his decision to go for the green out of the rough at the par-4 9th, which ultimately led to a double-bogey. Cole settled down after that and added a birdie and eight pars on the back-nine. Unfortunately for him, Henley made three straight birdies to finish and match Cole at 12-under. Henley continued that run and made another birdie on the first playoff hole, which Cole was not able to match. It's so tough to win on the PGA Tour, but Cole has to be pretty happy with the effort he gave on Sunday. The 37-year-old has now finished top 15 in four of his last five starts. He will be in the field for the Memorial Tournament next week thanks to this result.

Impact Cole entered Sunday's action in the top-5 and just two shots off the lead, and he got off to a solid start with two birdies in the first eight holes. He struggled thereafter, however, failing to record a birdie while carding three bogeys and a double bogey to tumble down the leaderboard. Cole struggled with his ball striking, losing 3.5 shots from tee to green across two rounds at the Stadium Course.

Impact Cole had a mostly uneventful final round going as he was only two-under through 13 holes until he birdied each of the final five holes for the top-10 result. He carded just three bogeys all tournament and ranked in the top-10 in GIR and scrambling. It's Cole's second top-10 finish this fall and moves him up to 74th in the FedExCup Fall Standings.
