Ties for 12th in U.S. Open Kirk closed with a one-over par 71 on Sunday at Oakmont to finish six-over par for the tournament and tied for 12th place. Impact Kirk's U.S Open got off to a rough start as he made three bogeys and two double bogeys on his opening nine holes. However he was able to close out his opening round with four straight birdies to shoot a three-over par 73 in the first round. Kirk's up and down play continued in rounds two and three as he made three bogeys and three birdies in round two to shoot an even-par 70, and five bogeys and three birdies in round three to shoot a two-over par 72. Kirk's final round was much of the same as he entered his final nine holes of the tournament two-over par for the round and seven-over for the tournament. He was able to birdie holes 13 and 14 before bogeying the difficult hole 16, to close with a final round 71. Kirk finished the tournament tied for forth in birdies made in large part to his impressive tee-to-green play, which ranked 11th in SG: Tee to Green in the field.
