Misses cut after poor first round Potgieter missed the cut by three strokes at the 3M Open despite a six-under 65 second round.

Impact Potgieter played as well as he could Friday, but it wasn't enough for him to overcome his six-over 66 opening round, when he carded two double bogeys, four bogeys and an eagle. Most of his struggles came in the short game, as he lost 2.63 strokes around the green across his two rounds. Potgieter has missed the cut three times over his last four tournaments, with his T59 last week at The Open Championship being the exception. He's in the field for next week's Rocket Classic, which he won last year after beating out both Max Greyserman and Chris Kirk in a thrilling five-hole playoff.

Impact Potgieter is coming off back-to-back missed cuts at the John Deere Classic and the Genesis Scottish Open, but he'll make his third career Open Championship appearance this week following Louis Oosthuizen's (back) WD.

Impact Potgieter put himself in a deep hole after going three-over in a roller-coaster opening round, when he logged a triple bogey, a double bogey, four bogeys, three birdies and an eagle. He settled down Friday to post a three-under score (including three birdies over the final 10 holes), but it was far too late for the South African to qualify for the weekend. He lost a whopping 4.51 strokes in his approach play Thursday and connected on only 13 of 28 fairways (46.4 percent) over his two rounds. Potgieter's streak of made cuts ended at five tournaments, with his last MC being at The Masters in April. He'll look to bounce back next week at the Genesis Scottish Open, where he missed the cut last year in what was his debut at the event.

Impact Potgieter has not played since the PGA Championship due to an undisclosed reason. After an inconsistent start to the 2026 season with a lot of missed cuts, the young South African has made his last four cuts with a pair of top-25 finishes. Potgieter sits 60th in the FedExCup standings.

Top-15 at Cadillac Championship Potgieter registered a four-under 68 in the final round of the Cadillac Championship to finish in a four-way tie for 14th.

Impact Potgieter saved his best round of the tournament for last, and his back-to-back birdies on the 71st and 72nd holes were enough for the 21-year-old South African to finish in the top-15 for the second time this season. Unsurprisingly, Potgieter led the field in Miami in driving distance while ranking T11 in birdies made, 15th in SG: Approach and 25th in both SG: Off-the-Tee and Putting. He will tee off at the Truist Championship next week.

Impact Potgieter posted four-under 67 scores in each of the first three rounds of the tournament and was tied for sixth on the leaderboard heading into Sunday. However, the 21-year-old South African struggled in the windy conditions during the final round, failing to record a birdie while posting four bogeys. Potgieter led the field at Hilton Head Island in driving distance while ranking eighth in SG: Off-the-Tee, T14 in scrambling and 21st in SG: Putting.
