Impact Potgieter posted four-under 67 scores in each of the first three rounds of the tournament and was tied for sixth on the leaderboard heading into Sunday. However, the 21-year-old South African struggled in the windy conditions during the final round, failing to record a birdie while posting four bogeys. Potgieter led the field at Hilton Head Island in driving distance while ranking eighth in SG: Off-the-Tee, T14 in scrambling and 21st in SG: Putting. However, he also finished in the bottom half in SG: Approach, SG: Around-the-Green, birdies made and driving accuracy. Potgieter has cracked the top-25 in two of his last three tournaments and has done so three times in 2026, but he's also missed the cut in six of 10 tournaments, most recently at The Masters. He won't participate in the Zurich Classic next week.

Impact Potgieter has been one of the best drivers on the Tour this season, and that was in full display at Memorial Park. He connected on just 24 of 52 fairways (T59 in the field), but that didn't end up penalizing the 21-year-old South African, who led the field in both driving distance (335.4 yards) while gaining 5.13 strokes off the tee, which was also the best in the tournament. Potgieter finished eighth in SG: Approach and in the top-25 in GIR and birdies made but it was his game around and on the green that held Potgieter back, as he finished 64th and 71st in SG: Putting and SG: Around-the-Green, respectively. He's made the cut in just three of eight Tour events this season, but his performance in Houston was encouraging after not making the weekend at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS Championship. He'll take a week off before participating at The Masters starting April 9, where he missed the cut in 2023 in his lone appearance at Augusta National.

Impact Potgieter earned a spot in the third signature event of the PGA Tour season as the final sponsor exemption. The 21-year-old South African is coming off a solo fifth performance at The Genesis Invitational, which was a welcome sign after he missed the cut in each of his first three Tour outings of the year. Potgieter is 19th in the FedExCup Standings with 307.88 points, most of which came from his performance at Riviera.

Impact Jacob Bridgeman entered the final round seven shots clear of Potgieter, but the former's inability to extend his lead gave the field an opportunity to play catchup. Potgieter looked to be one of those players after he carded eagles on the first and 11th holes but wasn't able to make up ground elsewhere. He still did enough to grab his first top-5 finish of the 2026 season, and his performance at Riviera was his best since his victory at the Rocket Classic in June. Potgieter led the field in both driving distance and eagles and ranked third in SG: Off-the-Tee, fourth in GIR and fifth in SG: Putting. He's not in the field for next week's Cognizant Classic.
