Logan Fife - Throws two TDs
Fife went 27-for-44 for 248 yards and two touchdowns against Tulsa on Saturday. He also ran 12 times for 28 yards and lost a fumble.
Impact
Fife has turned the ball over twice while totaling three touchdowns, and he has yet to throw for over 250 yards. However, NMSU is also 2-0 and that essentially means Fife is doing enough for a program like this.

AJ Williams - Sidelined for Week 2
Williams (undisclosed) won't play in Week 2 against Tulsa, per Nick Coppola of The Las Cruces Sun-News.
Impact
Williams also missed Week 1, and he'll now sit out a second straight game for the Aggies. Williams was projected to be a starting wideout for New Mexico State, but he won't get a chance to make his first impression in 2025 until at least Week 3 against Louisiana Tech.

TK King - Not playing vs. Tulsa
King (undisclosed) is out for Saturday's game against Tulsa, Nick Coppola of The Las Cruces Sun-News reports.
Impact
King was spotted in street clothes and will miss a second straight game. His absence will represent a huge blow to New Mexico State's passing attack, as he's a key member of their offense. King's next chance to play will come against Louisiana Tech on Sep. 13.

TK King - Sits out opener
King (undisclosed) didn't play in New Mexico State's opener against Bryant, per the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Impact
King, who was listed as a starter for the Aggies, didn't suit up in the opener. He figures to make a big impact upon his return, as he posted 17 catches for 236 yards, as well as 13 carries for 100 yards and two scores last season with Wyoming. Still, we have no timetable for a possible return at the moment.

AJ Williams - Misses Week 1 with injury
Williams (undisclosed) didn't play in New Mexico State's Week 1 win versus Bryant, per the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Impact
Williams, a projected starting wideout for the Aggies, didn't play in the opener. His next chance to suit up will come in Week 2 versus Tulsa, but considering how little we know about the injury, it's difficult to predict when he'll return to action.

PJ Johnson III - Catches TD
Johnson caught two passes for 24 yards and a touchdown versus Bryant on Saturday.
Impact
Johnson found the end zone, but notable he had one catch for a 24-yard score and one catch for, obviously, zero yards. Also, with a new quarterback under center, two other Aggies had more catches.

Donovan Faupel - Nets 99 yards
Faupel caught five passes for 99 yards against Bryant on Saturday.
Impact
It seems like sticking around at NMSU has led to Faupel rising to a sizable role. He came into this season with 11 catches on 24 targets total. In one game this year he had five catches on eight targets.

Kadarius Calloway - Rushes for TD
Calloway ran 12 times for 50 yards and a touchdown against Bryant on Saturday.
Impact
Callow and Dijon Stanley got roughly the same number of touches. However, Calloway was decidedly better, as Stanley averaged 3.2 yards per carry and didn't score. In this backfield situation, it would appear Calloway has the leg up.

Logan Fife - TD, INT in opener
Fife went 14-for-31 for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Bryant on Saturday.
Impact
Fife went down to the FCS level to give his career a jolt after not finding success at Fresno State. It worked, as he was a star for Montana last year. That led to him returning to FBS football, and he won the NMSU job. However, given the opponent, this isn't exactly a guy grabbing the job with both hands. We shall see where thing go.

TJ Pride - Not starting in Week 1
Pride isn't listed as a starter on New Mexico State's initial two-deep of the 2025 season.
Impact
Pride is listed behind AJ Williams, Tyler King and Donovan Faupel on the depth chart at wide receiver. This is interesting considering he returns plenty of production with 34 catches for 374 yards and two scores, but it's worth noting that we can't take Week 1 two-deeps as gospel.

AJ Williams - Listed as starter for Aggies
Williams is listed as a starter on New Mexico State's initial depth chart ahead of Week 1.

Dijon Stanley - Listed as starter
Stanley is listed as a starter for New Mexico State on its Week 1 depth chart.
Impact
Stanley transferred over from Utah in the offseason after spending two years in Salt Lake City. Last fall, he ran for 66 yards on 20 carries. He's apparently made a great first impression with the Aggies, as he's listed alone atop the running back pecking order for the Week 1 clash with Bryant.

Logan Fife - Earns starting job
Fife has locked down New Mexico State's starting quarterback gig, per the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Impact
Fife transferred to New Mexico State in December after playing with FCS Montana in 2024 following three years at Fresno State. His campaign with the Bobcats was his best, as he tossed for 1,890 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions and adding five scores on the ground. He'll now take the reins for the Aggies in his fifth season of college football.
