Impact Hoover will have big shoes to fill in 2026, succeeding Fernando Mendoza, who won the Heisman, is slated to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and has Indiana two wins away from a National Championship. Still, it's a big get for IU, as Hoover has thrown for over 9,500 passing yards in his college career. He's topped 3,400 yards and 25 passing touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.

Impact Hoover will search for a new team ahead of his final year of eligibility. The junior quarterback finished the 2025 season with a 65.9 completion percentage for 3,472 yards with 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He'll likely now not play in the Valero Alamo Bowl versus USC on Dec. 30. Hoover will be a coveted player in the portal, as projects to have the most total passing yards (9,629) and touchdown passes (71) of any quarterback in the sport expected to return in 2026.

Big performance in season finale Hoover was 19-for-22 passing for 306 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 45-23 win against Cincinnati.

Impact Hoover saved his best for last as he threw for four touchdowns in an impressive win against the Bearcats in the regular season finale. It was the fifth time this year that he's gone over 300 yards passing in a game. He'll have the opportunity to build on what has already been a great year in a bowl game for the Horned Frogs. With a single touchdown in the bowl game, Hoover will set a career-high in total scores as he currently has 29 through the air and two on the ground which matches the 31 touchdowns he had during the 2024 season. Hoover has averaged 34.4 passing attempts per game, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go high volume in the bowl.

Impact Hoover helped the Horned Frogs land their first road win over a ranked opponent since 2022.
