Returns to game Love (upper body) has returned to Saturday's game against Stanford, Tyler Horka of On3.com reports.

Impact Love left the contest in the first quarter after taking a knee to the midsection, and the star RB was forced to go back to the locker room. According to Matt Fortuna of The Athletic, Love's locker room trip was to get fitted for a rib protector. After emerging from the locker room, Love sat out a couple of drives before making a return late in the second quarter.

The star running back was replaced by Jadarian Price, who should see the bulk of the carries while Love is sidelined. Love logged nine carries for 58 yards and a touchdown before exiting.

Impact Love's rushing day was his second best in his college days. The junior ran for 228 yards in the 34-24 victory over USC on Oct. 18. Love has 1,306 rushing yards on 185 carries and 17 touchdowns this season. He has one more game to Heisman Trophy campaign. The Irish finish the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 29 against Stanford. Love will have a tougher time against the Cardinal run defense that is in the top 25 in the nation. Stanford's weakness on defense is against the pass where they are next to the bottom in the country.
