Mixed results against Cowboys Shapen completed 28 of 40 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Saturday's 36-25 loss to Oklahoma State.

Impact Shapen was able to record multiple touchdowns for the third time this year, however, he also had multiple turnovers for the first time this season. Those two interceptions turned out to be too costly as Baylor fell to Oklahoma State in a crucial conference match-up early in the season. The 345 passing yards were a season-high as he connected with Monaray Baldwin for a pair of long scores. Shapen and the Bears will be off next week before playing at West Virginia on Oct. 13.

Three TDs at Iowa State Shapen completed 19 of 26 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for three yards on seven carries in Saturday's 31-24 win at Iowa State.

Impact Shapen did everything he needed to in order to take down the Cyclones on the road while posting a season-high three touchdown passes. Baylor has one of the more balanced offensive attacks in the conference and Shapen will get his fair share of opportunities most weeks. Through four games, the Bears' starting quarterback has nine total scores and just one interception. Baylor will host Oklahoma State next week.

Notches rushing score in win Shapen completed 15 of 26 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown with an interception to go along with 42 yards and a score on three carries in Saturday's 42-7 win over Texas State.

Impact Shapen now has multiple touchdowns in two of three games, including a pair of rushing scores. Take out a tough match-up with BYU and Shapen has been a reliable fantasy option at quarterback. Baylor won't see too many defenses on the level of BYU, so expect Shapen to have a respectable year. Baylor will open up conference play at Iowa State next week.

Impact This decision comes after Shapen apparently outplayed incumbent Gerry Bohanon throughout a fierce spring competition. Shapen came on late in the season and led Baylor to key victories over Texas Tech and ultimately Oklahoma State in the Big 12 TItle Game. It's unclear what Bohanon's next step is, but Shapen is set to be the starter in Waco in 2022. He completed 62 of 86 pass attempts (72.1%) to go with five touchdowns and no interceptions in five appearances as a redshirt freshman.
