Impact Thomas, who is coming off a breakout season with UAB, started his Houston career off well during Thursday's opener. He caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Conner Weigman in the third quarter and ranked second on the team in receptions, targets and yards behind tight end Tanner Koziol. There's a chance he could be Weigman's favorite wide receiver this season, and that could mean a lot of production given his big play ability.

Impact Thomas transferred from UAB to Houston, and the bigger stage will not stop UH's team from giving him a chance to step up. Both his 2023 and 2024 UAB seasons include excellent numbers, but the latter features 670 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

It marked his second straight multi-touchdown game and he now has eight touchdowns on the season. He also tied a season-high with eight catches and he has been targeted at least nine times in each of Jalen Kitna's four starts.
