Impact
Newell will head over to WKU after playing this past campaign with North Texas and the previous two for Cal. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 6.2 points and 3.6 rebounds on 21.8 minutes per game this season. He should aim to make some noise right away with the Hilltoppers.

Head coach Hank Plona said on Tuesday that Thedford will likely miss the rest of the season. He has missed the last nine games since suffering a dislocated kneecap and a torn ligament in the Jan. 18 game at Middle Tennessee State.
