Duke Miles - 20 points in high-scoring victory Miles had 20 points (8-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists and one steal in 29 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 105-93 victory over UCF.
Impact Miles was a relatively quiet scorer in the Commodores' season opener versus Lipscomb, notching 10 points and finding ways to make his teammates shine with nine assists. The senior guard became more involved in Vandy's efforts against the Knights, though, as he led his squad with 20 points, even with a foul out in the second half. He should remain an integral part of Vanderbilt's scoring efforts against Eastern Kentucky this upcoming Wednesday.

Impact The undisclosed injury that kept Harris from playing in an exhibition game two weeks ago seems to be a thing of the past. The Washington transfer - and one of three Tylers on the Commodore roster with Tyler Nickel and Tyler Harris - has averaged 14.5 points in 23.0 minutes through two games. With the starting Tylers playing well, Harris will have to scratch and claw for extra minutes.

Tyler Nickel - Scores 17 in win Nickel ended with 17 points (6-10 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes during Saturday's 105-93 victory over UCF.
Impact Nickel has opened the season on a hot streak from long range. He has hit converted 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) of his 3-pointers in the first two games and is averaging 18.5 points. Vanderbilt plays Eastern Kentucky, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Texas Southern in its next three games, so the 6-7 senior should see plenty more of open opportunities.

Impact Nicholson will miss a second straight game to start the year. The senior joined the Commodores as a transfer from Jacksonville State, where he averaged 7.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in 25.8 minutes last season.

Impact For the time being, Tanner has won the starting point guard spot over Frankie Collins, who had six assists in 17 minutes off the bench. The 6-0 sophomore did not need to play extended minutes in the blow out win, but may get more playing time on Saturday against UCF.

Impact Perhaps finally, James can log his first action since early-2024. He did not play the NCAA's 2024-25 season because of a knee injury. Before then, in back-to-back years, James logged more than 10.0 points per game. He also recorded 5.0 rebounds per game, adding an element of surprise to his more recognized scoring. In regard to it, James will look to be a bit more reliable, having shot under 40.0 percent in his 2023-24 campaign.
