Continues in reserve role Shannon had 14 points (4-13 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds and two assists across 33 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 79-77 victory over Texas.
Impact Shannon continues to project as a first-round pick in the NBA Draft, though he made an interesting move in early-January in asking coach Chris Beard to start bringing him off the bench. It hasn't affected the sophomore's production, as Shannon has recorded at least 11 points and five rebounds in each game in this sixth-man role. While Micah Peavy and Kevin McCullar are in starting roles, Shannon should continue to see equal or greater minutes.

Excels in bench role Shannon had a team-high 22 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 11-12 FT) to go along with six rebounds and three steals across 27 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 82-71 victory over Kansas...
Impact Shannon is the consensus highest-rated prospect on the Red Raiders and had started each of the previous 10 games he appeared in, but according to Phil Mayer of ABC, it was Shannon's idea to come off the bench Tuesday. The switch didn't affect his production in the slightest bit, as he scored a season-best 22 points on just nine attempts from the field. It was his ability to get to the line that set him apart here, as Shannon attempted double the free throws of any other game this year. Whether as a starter or reserve, Shannon will look to keep up this momentum in an up-tempo game against the Cyclones on Saturday.

Starting Saturday Shannon (ankle) is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Ryan Mainville of the Daily Toreador reports.
Impact Shannon's participation in warmups foreshadowed his return to action Saturday, but his appearance in the starting five suggests the sophomore should be all systems go. Shanon is averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 rebounds over 22.2 minutes per game in five appearances this season.

Warming up Saturday Shannon (ankle) is warming up ahead of Saturday's game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
Impact Shannon missed the Red Raiders' last game with an ankle issue, but he appears to be on track to return Saturday. It's unclear whether he'll face any limitations if he indeed takes the court against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

No. 17 Texas Tech avoids major upset with 51-44 win over ACU

Kyler Edwards scored 19 points and No. 17 Texas Tech avoided a major upset in a defensive struggle with a 51-44 victory against Abilene Christian

Not at warmups Shannon (ankle) was not present at pregame warmups ahead of Wednesday's game against Abilene Christian, Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
Impact Shannon was a game-time decision and it looks as if that decision has been made that the sophomore forward will be sitting out Wednesday. Shannon will hope to return to the rotation on Saturday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
DECEMBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
GTD Wednesday Shannon (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Abilene Christian, Eric Kelly of KAMC reports.
Impact Shannon rolled his ankle in Sunday's game against Grambling. He reportedly missed a practice as well since that game. Texas Tech may be a little lighter on the wing if Shannon is unable to go with Kevin McCullar also nursing an ankle injury.
DECEMBER 8, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Helped off court with ankle injury Shannon rolled his ankle and needed to be helped off the court Sunday against Grambling, Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
Impact Shannon recorded his second-lowest minutes total of the season, but this time it was due to injury. It seems as if X-rays didn't turn back any concerning results, but the sophomore wing should still be considered a game-time call for Wednesday's matchup against Abilene Christian. Shannon has started all five games for the Red raiders this season, averaging 11.2 points across 22.2 minutes. Should he be forced to miss time, the Red Raiders would look to the likes of Jamarius Burton, Avery Benson and Tyreek Smith for more minutes.
