Dream-come-true job for Adams at Texas Tech with new seniors

DNP in scrimmage Shannon did not participate in a closed scrimmage Saturday against Wichita State, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.

Impact No reason was given for Shannon's absence, but both he and fellow projected key contributor Kevin McCullar did not participate in the contest. Assuming this isn't anything serious, Shannon's next chance to take the court will be the season opener Nov. 9 against North Florida. He and Oral Roberts transfer Kevin Obanor are expected to be a formidable duo at the wings for the Red Raiders in 2021-22.

Snaps out of funk Shannon had a team-high 18 points (6-16 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-8 FT) to go along with three rebounds, an assist and a a steal across 38 minutes in Monday's 74-69 loss to Oklahoma State.

Impact It wasn't Shannon's best performance of the season by any means, but it at least breaks him out of a three-game stretch in which he averaged 6.7 points across only 16.3 minutes. Shannon has been coming off the bench since Jan. 5, but up until recently, he had largely seen starter's minutes. Considering the sophomore is a projected first-round pick in the NBA Draft, it seems unlikely a sudden decline in minutes would be performance-related. Whatever the reason, he remains a risky fantasy play in the short-term.
