Terrence Hill Jr. - College Basketball News & Rumors

Suffers ankle injury Hill has a left ankle injury and is unlikely to return Tuesday against Duke, Mike Wilson of On3.com reports.

Impact Hill is slated to sit out the remainder of Tuesday's contest after suffering an ankle injury while advancing the ball up the court. Any potential absence beyond Tuesday would impact Tennessee's backcourt heading into regular-season action, as he is positioned to secure a starting role during his first year with the Volunteers.

Impresses during exhibition game Hill (thumb) logged 22 points (9-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three assists, three steals and two rebounds across 32 minutes during Tennessee's exhibition loss Thursday against Xavier.

Impact Now that Hill is healthy and has an exhibition game under his belt, there is a better gauge of how Tennessee will use him moving forward. For starters, he did not start Thursday's game, backing up a backcourt duo of Dai Dai Ames and Troy Henderson, which may be subject to more changes once Tyler Lundblade (back) becomes healthy. However, Hill showed incredible promise as Tennessee's best player by far in a disappointing loss. The junior has sufficient potential to move up in Tennessee's backcourt rotation, but it is worth noting that he regularly logged a backup role last season, even when he averaged 15.0 points and 2.3 three-pointers made per game. Perhaps the Volunteers' next exhibition will better determine what role Hill has now, especially with his physical health no longer a concern.

Commits to Tennessee Hill (thumb) has committed to Tennessee, according to Ryan Schumpert of RockyTopInsider.com.

Impact Even though VCU primarily used Hill as a backup during their season together, he took advantage of being the Rams' sixth man to somehow score 15.0 points and 2.3 three-pointers per game. He brings additional guard experience to a Tennessee team that also landed Dai Dai Ames. So while it looks like Hill will remain a reserve next season, he can operate in the same VCU role for an even bigger program.

Leaving VCU Hill (thumb) will enter the transfer portal, per Joe Tipton of On3.com.

Impact Hill broke out in his sophomore year at VCU, averaging 15.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists on 47/37/84 shooting splits. The 6-foot-3 guard also recently underwent thumb surgery, but that isn't something that should limit interest in the portal; Hill proved to be a dynamic scorer at a respected mid-major program, and will now look to jump up to the highest level of college hoops with two years of eligibility remaining.

Undergoes thumb surgery Hill recently underwent thumb surgery, according to Zach Joachim of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Impact While at Saint Louis on Feb. 20, Hill suffered a torn tendon on his right thumb. He not only persevered through the injury but also excelled, subsequently logging 16.1 points and 2.1 three-pointers made per game. But now that VCU's 2025-26 season is finished, with no more matchups until next autumn, Hill underwent surgery to repair his aforementioned thumb.
