NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Rickey McGill scored a key basket with 11 seconds left to help Iona give Rider its first conference loss 77-71 on Friday night.

McGill had 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. He scored on a putback to make it 74-71 for the Gaels (7-11, 5-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), following for the rebound after Tajuan Agee had his shot blocked by Tyere Marshall.

The Broncs (10-8, 5-1) had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but Stevie Jordan airballed a 3-point attempt. Rider coach Kevin Baggett received a technical foul while arguing that the ball had been tipped by an Iona player on its way out of bounds.

Iona led by as many as 16 in the first half, but Rider briefly had the lead at the end of a 19-6 run that made it 52-51 before the 11-minute mark of the second half.
