Struggles once again in loss
Alexander recorded eight points (4-11 FG, 0-2 3PT) six rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes in the 97-79 loss to Creighton on Saturday.
Impact
Alexander continued his poor form in the loss Saturday. The guard has started the entire season as a rookie as was expected, but has struggled to truly produce for the Red Storm. He has had some stretches of good and bad play, but has found himself in a funk yet again. Until he can start producing consistently, he is not viable.

Sets season-high in points
Champagnie recorded 33 points (13-21 FG, 4-7 3PT, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks in 33 minutes in the 97-79 loss to Creighton on Saturday.
Impact
Champganie was the sole effort in the loss Saturday. The forward led the Red Storm in all facets of scoring and was the only reason they were as close to Creighton as they were at the final seconds. Champagnie has shown that he can produce and consistently at that. Until he drops form, he is very viable and one of the main targets for St. John.

Leads team in points off bench
Dunn recorded 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3PT, 0-2 FT), two rebounds one assist and one steal in 29 minutes in the 69-61 loss to Xavier on Wednesday.
Impact
Dunn had his best performance of the season in the loss Wednesday. The guard easily led the Red Storm in what was a woeful shooting night at best for the team. Not a single person went 50 percent from the floor besides Dunn and although he produced enough points to keep the game close, he did not add enough peripherals to bolster his performance. With his minutes off and on, until he sees more consistent time and proves he can produce, look elsewhere.

Taking leave of absence
Caraher is taking a leave of absence from the St. John's program due to personal reasons, Zach Braziller of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Specifics of the junior's departure were not disclosed, but he appears to have left on good terms, leaving the door open for a return down the road or in a future season. Caraher is seeing only about a third of the playing time he did last season, and has effectively sat out four of his last five games. The few minutes he was getting will most likely be distributed evenly to players like Vince Cole and Marcus Earlington.

Saturday's game postponed
Saturday's game between St. John's and DePaul has been postponed due to COVID-19 related reasons, according to Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.
Impact
The game was suspended due to a COVID-19 positive case within the St. John's program. The team's next scheduled game is on Jan. 6 at Xavier, though it remains to be seen whether they'll able to take the court given the potential COVID-19 outbreak.

Back in starting five
Cole is starting Sunday's game against Georgetown.
Impact
Cole came off the bench Thursday, but he'll return to the starting lineup against Georgetown to start his eighth game over the last nine contests. Given his past usage, it wouldn't be surprising if he remained in the starting five.

Impact

Impact
Toro hasn't seen significant playing time early in the season, but he'll join the starting five for the first time with his new program Sunday. He'll take the place of Isaih Moore in the lineup, but it's not yet known whether Toro's starting role will continue.

Dec. 30 game postponed
St. John's Dec. 30 clash with Villanova has been postponed, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Per Zach Braziller of the New York Post, the postponement was mutually agreed upon as a way to give players a few days off during the holidays. There doesn't appear to be any COVID concerns for either side, so this is just a little extra break.

Coming off bench Thursday
Cole will come off the bench in Thursday's game against Creighton.
Impact
Cole had started the last seven games, but will return to the bench with Rasheem Dunn no longer limited by a concussion. Cole still should get his chances as he is averaging a solid 12.5 points per game this season.

Enters starting lineup
Dunn will start Thursday's game against Creighton.
Impact
Dunn missed five games due to a concussion. He has played the last two games on limited minutes off the bench, but it looks like the senior guard will be given more playing time on Thursday.

Turns into perfect role player
Dunn recorded 10 points (5-10 FG, 0-2 3PT, 0-2 FT), one assist and three steals in the 77-68 loss to Seton Hall on Friday.
Impact
Dunn was given his second appearance of the season in the loss Friday. The guard managed to turn his 16 minutes of play into a 50 percent shooting average and a few steals off the bench. Unluckily Dunn and the rest of the Red Storm could not quell the unpredictable Pirates. Dunn did support the starters with his versatile play and could be slated for more minutes if he can produce like that on a nightly basis.

Goes for 24 points Friday
Champagnie recorded 24 points (10-19 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, three blocks and a steal across 34 minutes in Friday's 77-68 loss against Seton Hall.
Impact
Champagnie has been a dominant player for St. John's this season, scoring at least 20 points in three of his five games to date while racking up two double-doubles in that span. He has started the team's last four games and is averaging 20.8 points while shooting 47.8 percent from the field in that span.
