Charleston (SC) Cougars and Monmouth Hawks square off in CAA Tournament

MARCH 9 • Associated Press
Cade Phillips - Career-high 15 points Phillips contributed 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-6 FT), four rebounds and three blocks in 23 minutes during Saturday's 75-65 win over South Carolina.
Impact Phillips' 15 points were a career best for the sophomore, and they came out of nowhere. He hadn't played 20 minutes since Feb. 8, and he hadn't even taken as many as eight shots all season. Still, his 6-of-8 shooting from the field was instrumental in helping the Volunteers hang on against a surprisingly feisty Gamecocks squad.

Jamarii Thomas - Drops 20 in regular season finale Thomas ended with 20 points (5-15 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 6-7 FT), two rebounds and four assists across 31 minutes during Saturday's 75-65 loss to Tennessee.
Impact Thomas didn't have the most efficient outing, but he did hit four triples en route to his first 20-point showing since Feb. 18. South Carolina fought valiantly against the Volunteers, but ultimately dropped their 16th SEC game in the regular season finale. Next up, the Gamecocks will take on Arkansas in the very first game of the SEC Tournament on March 12.

Impact Lanier and the Vols have won five of six to close out the regular season and will carry a No. 4 seed into next week's SEC tournament. The North Florida transfer has recorded at least three three-pointers in four of his last five games and closes out the regular season with a team-best 17.9 ppg scoring average.
