Impact Gillespie continues to be one of the most impactful performers for the Vols despite sharing the stage with five-star freshman Nate Ament. Through four games, he's averaging a career-best 6.3 apg and has attempted double-digit shots in each. After a Thursday matchup against Tennessee State, however, the level of competition will rise, as Tennessee begins a stretch against power-conference opponents that starts with Rutgers, Houston and Syracuse.

Impact Okpara's offense had been nonexistent in the first three games as he averaged 4.3 points, but he took advantage of opportunities against the Owls. The 6-11 senior did not block a shot for the first time this season. If J.P. Estrella (leg) misses time, Okpara might see his field goal attempts increase.

Impact Burg started the previous game against North Florida, but returned to a bench role for third time in four Volunteer games. The 6-3 sophomore played a season high in minutes in the blowout win over the Owls. He could be a spot starter in SEC-only leagues.

Nick Anderson - Tallies 19 points Anderson ended Monday's 91-66 loss to Tennessee with a season-high 19 points (6-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist and three steals across 29 minutes.

Impact The 6-3 senior has been a fine source of scoring for the Owls. He has scored in double digits in every game and is averaging 14.6 points. The Prairie View transfer is connecting on 53.6 percent of his 3-pointers. After playing minutes in the low 20s in the first three games, Anderson has played 29 minutes in each of his last two games. He could be among the leading scorers in the American Conference.

J.P. Estrella - Helped off court Monday Estrella was helped off the floor due to an apparent leg injury, Wes Rucker of WBIR Channel 10 reports.

Impact Estrella was seen on the floor holding his leg, but the most worrying stat was that he couldn't put any weight on it when taken off the court. Estrella missed most of the 2024-25 season due to injury, and now he'll have to wait for tests to determine the severity of this new problem.
