Impact The Fighting Irish needed Shrewsberry to be at his best Thursday, but the floor general struggled with his shot and finished with more field goal attempts than points scored. With Markus Burton (knee) sidelined for an extended stretch, Notre Dame need Shrewsberry to be one of their driving forces on offense going forward. To note, he's surpassed the 15-point mark in his last three appearances, and it'd be fair to continue to expect an uptick both in volume and usage rate in the coming games.

Impact Davis embraced a bigger role on offense due to the absence of Markus Burton (knee) and responded by posting his second game with at least 20 points in the current campaign. Davis, who has scored at least 13 points in four of his last six outings, is averaging a career-high 14.1 points per game in 2024-25.

Markus Burton - Out several weeks Burton (knee) is expected to miss several weeks with a knee injury, per Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com.

Impact Burton was previously confirmed to be out for the remainder of the Players Era Festival, but it looks like the Notre Dame star will miss extended time. The 5-foot-11 sophomore had been averaging a blistering 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game through six contests for the Fighting Irish before suffering a knee injury against Rutgers on Tuesday. Though the injury is expected to keep him out for several weeks, it has been confirmed to be a non-season ending injury. With Burton out for some time, his teammates will be forced into some larger roles, with junior Tae Davis looking like a likely candidate after scoring 37 points in the team's last two games following Burton's injury.
