Markus Burton - Bounces back Wednesday Burton contributed 25 points (10-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 86-79 victory over Bellarmine.

Impact Burton was coming off a 14-point performance against Ohio State on Nov. 16, where he shot a dreadful 3-for-14 from the floor, but he bounced back admirably here. This 25-point output was Burton's best scoring mark of the campaign, and his usage rate assures him of having a decent volume in every game. He has scored at least 20 points in three of his five games so far in 2025-26.

Impact Mohammed started the last three games for the Fighting Irish, but Jalen Haralson will take over his spot in the starting five on Wednesday night. Mohammed averaged 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in his three starts.

Impact Burton is expected to be one of the most dominant scoring forces in the ACC, but that won't be the case if he continues to struggle with his shot as much as he's done of late. Even though Burton has scored in double digits in his four outings this season, the lack of efficiency is hurting him. The junior guard is making just 40.7 percent of his shots from the field and 30.8 percent of his three-pointers.

Impact There was no reason for the Fighting Irish to risk Burton in a game they won by 32 points, so he was limited to just 17 minutes. He still made a sizable impact when he was out there, though. Expect Burton to remain as Notre Dame's primary offensive weapon going forward.

Impact Towt didn't provide a lot of value on offense after missing three of his four field goals, but he was a dominant presence on the glass. He's not going to crash the boards for 19 rebounds on a regular basis, but he's widely expected to be among the best rebounders in the ACC if he stays healthy.

Impact Notre Dame's 2024-25 season saw Burton log 21.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, his statistical rates' high output a result of the team having few options to work with. This season, it appears they are testing Logan Imes, Jalen Haralson and Sir Mohammed more at point guard. By playing them next to Burton, perhaps they can ease his on-ball usage. While the ND superstar's assist numbers may dip, his scoring likely stays the same or slightly increases. More importantly, Burton being less on the ball may mean less risk for injury, which is what prevented him from maximizing his 2024-25 season's production.
