Will be back for Madness
Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard said Winter (ankle) will "definitely be back" for the NCAA Tournament and is trying to be ready for the Big Ten Tournament, per Evan Flood of On3.
Impact
Winter missed the Badgers' most recent win over Purdue with a left ankle injury that he sustained against Maryland three days prior. Although the starting big man's status remains up in the air for the Big Ten Tournament, he'll luckily be good to go when Wisconsin inevitably goes dancing. Winter is averaging 13.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks on 31 minutes across 30 starts this season.

Ruled out vs. Purdue
Winter (ankle) will not play Saturday against Purdue.
Impact
It's a major absence for Wisconsin in their regular-season finale. Winter had started each of the Badgers' previous 30 games, averaging 13.3 points and 8.6 rebounds over 31 minutes. The junior center will look to return ahead of next week's Big Ten tournament. Austin Rapp figures to get the start in Winter's absence.

Labeled day-to-day
Winter (ankle) is considered day-to-day ahead of Saturday's game against Purdue, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Winter sustained a left ankle injury in Wednesday's win over Maryland, and while the injury initially looked significant, the junior big man is merely day-to-day moving forward. Winter is averaging 13.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks over 31.0 minutes per game this season.

Avoids serious injury
Head coach Greg Gard revealed that Winter (ankle) appears to have avoided a serious injury, per Zach Heilprin of The Zone.
Impact
Winter rolled his ankle during Wednesday's contest against Maryland and left the game without return. The 7-foot junior has been a star for the Badgers this season, averaging 13.3 points adn 8.6 rebounds per game across 30 contests. Gard indicated that the team will be doing more testing to determine the exact details of the injury, but it at least appears that Winter won't be out for extended time.

Exits game Wednesday
Winter (leg) exited Wednesday's win over Maryland, Nick Osen of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Winter was helped to the locker room with just over six minutes left in the second half after coming down hard on a putback attempt. The 7-foot junior was surrounded by his teammates on the floor and looked to be in a lot of pain holding his left leg/knee. Winter's night is done given Wisconsin's large lead at his time of exit, and his status for Saturday's game against Purdue and the upcoming Big Ten Tournament appears to be in jeopardy at this time.

Efficient outing vs. Hawkeyes
Winter ended with 18 points (8-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt), five rebounds and one block over 33 minutes during Sunday's 84-71 victory over Iowa.
Impact
Winter was surgical for the Badgers, dropping a highly efficient 18 points on 73 percent shooting from the field. It was also good to see him go 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, as he'd struggled with his three ball recently, hitting just 3-of-17 shots from deep in his last five games combined. Wisconsin's star guard tandem of Nick Boyd and John Blackwell gets most of the attention, but Winter looks like the X-factor for these Badgers as March creeps closer.

Career high in defeat
Winter finished with 26 points (9-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 12 rebounds and two blocks over 39 minutes during Saturday's 78-77 OT loss to Indiana.
Impact
Winter had the best scoring day of the season and of his career, in addition to posting his second consecutive double-double. He also came up big on a few defensive possessions, which has been a trend this year, as he has a pair of blocks in four of his last five games. Winter is a perfect testament to Wisconsin's player development and will be pivotal in any prospective postseason run.

Holds down paint for Badgers
Winter closed with 11 points (5-11 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 31 minutes during Saturday's 92-82 win over Ohio State.
Impact
Winter's open three-point looks may not have been falling, but he affected the game defensively against an opponent that largely utilized a small-ball lineup. The end result was his fourth double-double of the calendar year, as well as the third time in the last four games he's recorded multiple blocks. Winter and the Badgers now have a slight break ahead before hitting the road to face Indiana on Saturday.

Double-double in homecoming
Winter totaled 12 points (6-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 0-2 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and one block across 39 minutes during Tuesday's 78-75 win over Minnesota.
Impact
Winter, a Minnesota native, nearly blew it for the Badgers when he missed two critical free throws at the end of the second half that would've put Wisconsin up by multiple possessions. The Gophers proceeded to hit the game-tying three, only for Winter to get bailed out by Wisconsin's star guard John Blackwell draining the game-winning three. Still, it was a productive outing for the center, who notched his eighth double-double of the season and shot 50 percent from the field. Those missed free throws also look like an anomaly -- he's shooting a career-best 77.6 percent from the charity stripe this season.
