Oregon opens first Big Ten season looking for better NCAA Tournament finish
The Oregon Ducks embark on their first season in the Big Ten

Denied extra year
Dante has been denied an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Dante only played six games during the 2020-21 season with Oregon due to a knee injury and 12 games in the previous year when the NCAA Tournament was cancelled. Considering this, he has also been with the Ducks for five seasons and the NCAA has deemed his availability within each year enough to say his college career is over. Oregon will appeal the decision, but the chance that Dante will see the court at the collegiate level again is unlikely.

Excellent in upset win
Dante recorded 23 points (7-9 FG, 9-15 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in Thursday's 87-73 win over No. 6 South Carolina.
Impact
While Jermaine Couisnard's 40 points will take all the headlines, Dante was excellent in Thursday's First Round win. He tied a season high with 15 free throw attempts and scored over 20 points for the fourth time in his last seven games. He now faces a matchup with three-time Big East defensive player of the year Ryan Kalkbrenner and the No. 3 Creighton Blue Jays Saturday with a place in the Sweet 16 on the line.

Sees first minutes since opener
Dante (hamstring) got on the court less than six minutes into the game versus Cal on Saturday, Matt Prehm of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Dante has not played since the season opener so this is huge news for the Ducks. It also appears Dante may not be as limited as intially thought in his return.

Expected to play Saturday
Dante (hamstring) will suit and is probable to play in Saturday's game versus California, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Dante hasn't played since Nov. 6 due to a hamstring injury but is expected to give it a go Saturday. However, it wouldn't be surprising if the senior big man is put on a minutes restriction.

Ramping up
Dante (hamstring) was a participant in practice and team scrimmages Tuesday, Zachary Neel of DucksWire reports.
Impact
Dante was active for full court scrimmages Tuesday, with Oregon's next game coming Saturday against California. Undefeated through four conference games thus far, Oregon could opt to use extreme caution in bringing back Dante, but his return appears imminent.

Out four weeks after surgery
Dante (hamstring) underwent successful surgery this week and will be reevaluated in four weeks, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Dante has yet to suit up since the season opener when he put up a stellar stat line of 16 points and 21 boards in a victory over Georgia. He's missed the three games since and was already ruled out for this weekend's Emerald Coast Classic, but with Friday's news, the outlook is far more serious than originally anticipated. Fellow center Nate Bittle (wrist) also underwent surgery this week and won't be evaluated for eight weeks, leaving the Ducks severely depleted at the five. Mahamadou Diawara and Kwame Evans will both see significantly expanded roles until at least late-December as a result.

Head coach Dana Altman indicated Thursday that Dante (hamstring) will not be active for Friday's game against Montana, Jarrid Denney of On3.com reports.
Impact
After putting up 16 points in the home opener, Dante will be held out of action for Friday's matchup. His next chance to suit up will be in next week's game against Tennessee State.

Available against Georgia
Dante (knee) is available for Oregon's game Monday against Georgia, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Dante being available means Oregon's team will have its center for a relatively difficult opener Monday. He averaged 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks across his 31 games (30 started) during the Ducks' 2022-23 season. Expecting to remain a starter for the third season in a row, Dante should have no problems exemplifying his prowess for the Oregon team again in this campaign.

Expected to play season opener
Dante (knee) has missed multiple practices recently but is still expected to play Monday's season opener versus Georgia, James Crepea of The Oregonian reports.
Impact
Head coach Dana Altman said Dante has not been practicing much as of late due to knee soreness, but he is optimistic about Dante's chances to play in Monday's season opener in Las Vegas. Dante led the team in points (13.4 per game) and rebounds (8.4 per game) last season and figures to be one of the Ducks most important players this season.

Game-time decision Wednesday
Dante (ankle) will be a game-time decision to play for Wednesday's NIT game against UC Irvine, Rob Moseley of GoDucks.com reports.
Impact
It seems as if the senior will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game due to an apparent ankle injury. Oregon is hopeful that the center will be able to play, but is listed as questionable. Dante is averaging 13.4 points on 26.2 minutes played per game this season.
