Impact Rice was immediately thrust into the Hoosiers' starting lineup after starting in all 35 games with Washington State last season. The 6-foot-3 sophomore tallied 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, making solid contributions on both sides of the ball. Rice looks to play a key role as Indiana's top point guard this season, but with plenty of other scoring options in Mackenzie Mgbako, Malik Reneau and Oumar Ballo, it seems unlikely he mirrors his offensive production from last season.

Impact Rice certainly looked comfortable with his new team and picked right back up from what he showed in a dazzling freshman campaign with Washington State that saw him average 14.8 points, 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest. Rice played alongside Kanaan Carlyle in the backcourt in this one, but it could very well be veteran Trey Galloway once the regular season begins, as he was out of this one with a knee injury. Rice will be hoping to prove that he belongs in the discussion of top PG's in the Big Ten.

Impact Rice's decision comes not long after Kyle Smith left his post as head coach of Washington State for Stanford. The former will also leave WSU with three seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining. Impact Rice was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in September 2022 and spent Washington State's 2022-23 season recovering, resulting in his cancer-free diagnosis in March 2023. Reportedly ready for the Huskies' upcoming campaign, he will try to finally establish a role with them having already redshirted one season. While what type of role Rice will have is unclear, the Cougars are expected to test out much of their new team, having just four players return from the previous season.
