Confirmed out for season Mitchell (knee) will miss the rest of the 2020-21 season, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Impact This was the fear after Mitchell went down in the first half of last Sunday's game against Western Kentucky. There's no word yet on exactly what kind of knee injury it is and how long the recovery time is, but the 6-9 forward won't be returning this season. The loss of Mitchell will put a lot more pressure on the Rhode Island frontcourt.

Serious injury feared Mitchell is facing a potentially season-ending knee injury, Morey Hershgordon of WPRI 12 reports.

Impact The report cites a tweet from a private account of one of Mitchell's family members, as the school has yet to announce anything official. According to that account, Mitchell will need to undergo surgery and will be sidelined roughly 4-to-6 months. Assuming this is indeed the case, Mitchell's twin brother Makhel will be left to take on a big chunk of the post minutes, as he'll presumably be tasked with serving as the primary rim protector. Forwards such as Jermaine Harris and DJ Johnson would also stand to see a minutes increase, per Bill Koch of The Providence Journal.
