Impact Philon was originally considered questionable for the contest for reasons that were not specified, and while he did enter the game as a reserve, it was one of his lower minutes totals of the year, as well as the third time this season he was held without a basket. Chris Youngblood picked up the start in his stead, recording 13 points and five boards in the victory. The move makes sense on the surface, as Philon hit a bit of a freshman wall, averaging 7.4 ppg on 26.7 percent shooting over his previous five games. It remains to be seen if this alignment will continue Wednesday at Mississippi State.

Impact Philon's 2024 season has been something, namely because there's no telling just how much or how little he'll impact the game night in and night out. The guard has scored as many as 18 points but also as few as one; naturally, that season-high in points came in the one game he didn't start. His minutes have also fluctuated from as many as 32 to as few as 12. Alabama head coach Nate Oats is still clearly tinkering with his exact rotations, but regardless, Philon figures to be a crucial piece of the puzzle in Tuscaloosa.
