Decides to opt out of season
Johnson has decided to opt out of the remainder of the 2020-21 season, Jacob Polacheck of ZagsBlog.com reports.
Impact
Johnson cleaned out his locker on Monday after averaging 11.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 21.4 minutes per contest this season. Johnson has seen inconsistent minutes this season and has not been in the starting lineup in any of the last three games. The stud freshman also missed some time earlier this season with a foot injury. Johnson is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

ROTOWIRE
Back in starting lineup
Johnson is starting Saturday's game against Louisville.
Impact
Johnson is coming off a monster performance off the bench Tuesday, and he'll be back in the starting lineup Saturday for the first time since Dec. 8. The freshman had a slow start after returning from a foot injury, but he didn't appear to face any limitations in Tuesday's loss to Pittsburgh.

ROTOWIRE
Monster game Tuesday
Johnson registered 24 points (8-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 7-10 FT), 15 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and four blocks across 33 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's loss at Pittsburgh.
Impact
Johnson started the first four games of the season and while he was limited in his return to action against Virginia Tech on Jan. 12, he bounced back with his best performance of the campaign -- he registered season-high marks in points and assists while tying his season highs for both steals and blocks. This effort might be enough to move him back to the starting five ahead of Saturday's game at Louisville.

ROTOWIRE
Very limited in return
Johnson (foot) had two points and an assist across four minutes off the bench in Tuesday's loss to Virginia Tech.
Impact
While Johnson was spotted warming up and ultimately entered the game, he was passed up for the starting nod in favor of Jaemyn Brakefield and ultimately didn't see much action. Duke has a bit of a break ahead before heading to Pittsburgh on Jan. 19, so it seems likely Johnson could be deployed in a greater capacity after a full week of ramping up practice.

ROTOWIRE
Active Tuesday
Johnson (foot) has checked into Tuesday's game against Virginia Tech, Stephen Wiseman of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Impact
Johnson's status has escalated quickly over the course of the day, and now the freshman is indeed active for the first time since Dec. 8. Johnson averaged 11.5 points and 8.3 rebounds over the team's first four games.

Warming up sans boot
Johnson (foot) is participating in warmups without a boot ahead of Tuesday's game versus Virginia Tech, Brendan Marks of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Johnson has been one of the primary sources of scoring early in Duke's 2020-21 campaign, notching 11.5 points per game to go along with 8.3 boards, 2.0 blocks, 1.8 assists and a steal per contest. If he takes the floor, it would mark his first action since Dec. 8, so there's a chance hew ill be eased back into the action.

ROTOWIRE
Will travel for game Tuesday
Coach Mike Krzyzewski said that Johnson (foot) will travel to Tuesday's game against Virginia Tech, but will likely be a game-time decision, Brendan Marks of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Johnson was able to do individual work in practice on Sunday. Coach K said that Johnson will suit up, but it's still unclear whether or not he will actually take the court. If Johnson doesn't go on Tuesday he would have a full week to get back to shape before the team's next game against Pittsburgh.

ROTOWIRE
Still sidelined Saturday
Johnson (foot) remains on the shelf for Saturday's game against Wake Forest, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
Impact
Johnson doesn't have a clear-cut return date attached at this point, so it's just a wait-and-see scenario regarding his status on a nightly basis. The Blue Devils don't quite have the depth they've had in years past this season, so getting Johnson back int eh mix sooner rather than later would certainly be beneficial.

ROTOWIRE
Out at least 2-3 weeks
Johnson (foot) will be out at least 2-to-3 weeks, Brendan Marks of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The freshman is reportedly in a boot and will be out until the Jan. 12 game against Virginia Tech at a minimum. This is such devastating news for the Blue Devils, as Johnson had gotten off a a stellar start, averaging 11.5 points and 8.3 rebounds. Center Patrick Tape garnered the start in Johnson's place Wednesday, though it appears Joey Baker and Matthew Hurt will likely see a greater uptick in minutes with the freshmen sidelined.

ROTOWIRE
Sidelined indefinitely
Duke announced Tuesday that Johnson will be sidelined indefinitely due to a foot injury.
Impact
Johnson had gotten off to a strong start to his freshman campaign prior to the injury, averaging 11.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game through the first four contests. Unfortunately, he appears likely to miss extended time with the injury, a brutal development for Duke with the Blue Devils kicking off their conference slate Wednesday versus Notre Dame.

Duke cancels remaining nonconference games
Duke has elected to cancel the remaining games on its nonconference schedule, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Impact
Duke had a pair of nonconference games on the horizon versus Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb but will instead only play the Notre Dame game squeezed between them. Even with the cancelations, the Blue Devils still have 20 games remaining on their regular-season schedule.

ROTOWIRE
Stellar collegiate debut
Johnson had 19 points (8-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 19 rebounds, five assists and four blocks across 35 minutes in Saturday's 81-71 victory over Coppin State.
Impact
Not only was Johnson the only freshman to crack the starting five, but he led the Blue Devils in minutes played and was second on the team to only D.J. Steward in scoring (24 points). It would have been a perfect day had it not been for the seven turnovers he committed, but fantasy players can certainly live with that given the outstanding production. All in all, it was an excellent way to get the likely one-and-done player some reps, as Duke will now shift focus to a showdown against a far superior defensive unit in Michigan State on Tuesday.

ROTOWIRE
In starting lineup
Johnson will get the start at forward in Saturday's season debut against Coppin State.
Impact
Johnson is the only freshman to get the starting nod for the Blue Devils. He will be alongside Jordan Goldwire, Wendell Moore, Joey Baker and Matthew Hurt. The consensus five-star prospect is expected to be a key player for Duke this season.

ROTOWIRE
Duke opener postponed
Johnson and the Blue Devils will not play Wednesday against Gardner-Webb due to a positive COVID-19 test in the Gardner-Webb program.
Impact
It seems the Duke program has avoided any COVID-related concerns to date, so it still plans to open up the season with a home matchup Nov. 28 against Coppin State. Look for Johnson -- a consensus five-star prospect -- to be a key factor for Duke once the team does get back on the court. The 6-8 wing is projected to start and can bring versatile, game-changing scoring ability to the Duke offensive attack in 2020-21. He's also been heralded as an exceptional passer for his size, so look for Johnson to get returning players such as Wendell Moore and Matthew Hurt in the mix as well.
