Has fantastic game Sunday White (knee) had 10 points (4-9 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and nine rebounds in 20 minutes during his second game back from a torn ACL in Sunday's 90-52 win over Cincinnati.

Impact White made his first appearance of the season in a loss to Wichita State on Thursday and showed flashes of his old self in Sunday's blowout victory over the Bearcats. The 6-8 senior tore his ACL in late May and initially wasn't expected to be ready to play this season. He not only made the first three-pointer of his career Sunday but he received a standing ovation after checking out of the game for the final time. The resurgence of White may grant him a starting spot somewhat soon as he vastly outplayed both Reggie Chaney and Brison Gresham.

Impact White hasn't taken the floor yet this season and his return doesn't appear to be imminent at this juncture. The Cougars could certainly use his services down low for the postseason run but his opportunities to get in some action before then are dwindling. If he can't take the floor relatively soon, it's hard to see the senior contributing on more than a limited basis in the conference and NCAA tournaments.

Impact White was presumed to be out for the season after he sustained a torn ACL in a May workout, but the senior has evidently made rapid progress in his recovery from surgery. Due to his long layoff from competitive action, White will likely require several practices to regain conditioning and full strength in his knee before he entertains the idea of playing this season. A starter in all 31 of the Cougars' games last season, White would provide a big boost to the Houston frontcourt if he's able to play at any point in 2020-21, even in a limited capacity. The Cougars wrap up their regular season March 7.

Impact White suffered a torn ACL in late May and was ruled out for the campaign at that time. While it doesn't sound as though that is necessarily the case with 100 percent certainty, the senior seems unlikely to make a meaningful contribution to the Cougars 2020-21 efforts. He should return to the mix in a key role again next year.
