Trae Broadnax - Scores team-high 27 Broadnax logged a career-high 27 points (10-20 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Saturday's 85-75 loss to East Carolina.
Impact Broadnax has scored 15 points or more in 12 straight games. He does most of his damage from within the arc because his 3-point shot is below average (31.8 percent). The 6-4 senior is excellent from the free throw line and is converting 79.7 percent of his freebies. Rice has alternated wins and losses in its last six games. They are off until next Sunday when they play Tulane. Broadnax averaged 7.5 points in a pair of losses to the Green Wave last season.

Bodey Howell - Puts up 19 points Howell closed Saturday's 85-75 loss to East Carolina with a career-high 19 points (7-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal in 22 minutes.
Impact The 6-4 freshman had only scored in double digits three times before Saturday. He played just eight minutes in Wednesday's win over Florida Atlantic, but caught the hot hand in the loss to the Pirates. Howell may have earned himself more minutes going forward. Rice is off until next Sunday when they play at Tulane.

Demitri Gardner - Scores season-high 21 Gardner finished with 21 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 35 minutes during Saturday's 85-75 win over Rice.
Impact Gardner has started the last seven games and scored in double digits in his last eight. He has hit 14 3-pointers in his last six games and is converting 51.4 percent of his long-range shots. The one-time Fordham recruit has become a mainstay of the Pirate backcourt and has helped ECU win three of its last four games. The team plays Wichita State on Wednesday. Gardner had 14 points int he Jan. 21 loss to the Shockers.
