Efficient in return
Whitehead ended with 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four rebounds and one steal across 25 minutes during Saturday's 69-62 OT loss to Virginia.
Impact
Whitehead was back on the court for the first time since Jan. 23 after missing four games due to a lower-leg injury. Even with limited run, the five-star freshman extended his double-digit scoring streak to three games despite facing one of the tougher matchups in the ACC. Whitehead had worked his way into the starting lineup in the five games prior to injury, though that was largely due to Jeremy Roach sitting out with a toe injury, and the veteran point guard has since returned. Whether or not Whitehead eventually reclaims a starting role, it appears he'll be in line to serve as an effective fantasy option moving forward.

Expected back Saturday
Whitehead (lower leg) is expected to be available for Saturday's matchup with Virginia, Adam Rowe of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Whitehead, who has missed the last four games with a lower leg injury, is expected to be available this weekend. The 6-foot-7 freshman has been an integral part of Duke's rotation this season, averaging 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.5 steals on 20.1 minutes per game. Whitehead will look to help the Blue Devils bounce back from two-consecutive losses as they face off with Virginia on Saturday.

Moving around Wednesday
Head coach Jon Scheyer said that Whitehead (lower leg) participated in a non-contact practice Wednesday, Stephen Wiseman of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Impact
Whitehead has now missed four consecutive matchups as a result of the lower-left leg sprain he sustained back on Jan. 23 versus Virginia Tech, and in order for him to suit up Saturday against Virginia, he'll at least have to partake in full-contact work at some point prior, per Wiseman. Once the 6-foot-7 freshman is eventually cleared for game action, he'll likely face a minutes restriction and/or come off the bench to ease his way back into the rotation.

Out at Miami
Whitehead (lower leg) will sit out Duke's game Monday at Miami, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Whitehead will have sat out both of Duke's games across early-February. Currently, his next opportunity to return is at Virginia on Saturday. Duke's head coach Jon Scheyer said Whitehead was "close to full health" after the team recently hosted North Carolina. But because he must sit out again Monday, his availability status will be questionable before Saturday.

Questionable at Miami
Whitehead (lower leg) is questionable before Duke's game Monday at Miami, according to Matt Giles of Sports Illustrated.
Impact
Duke's head coach Jon Scheyer said Whitehead is "close to full health" before the Blue Devils visit Miami. If their injured forward must sit out, he will receive five days of rest until they are at Virginia on Saturday. Whitehead is expected to be probable more than questionable in that case.

Remaining out Saturday
Whitehead (lower leg) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against North Carolina, Conor O'Neill of Rivals.com reports.
Impact
Whitehead will now miss his third consecutive contest due to a lower-leg injury sustained on Jan. 23 against Virginia Tech. The exact nature of this issue was not initially revealed, but the 6-foot-7 freshman is apparently dealing with a sprain somewhere on his injured leg, per O'Neill. Whitehead has averaged 8.4 points and 2.3 rebounds over 16 appearances with six starts this season. His next chance to play will come Monday at Miami.

Could practice on Thursday
Whitehead (lower leg) could practice on Thursday, according to Brendan Marks of The Athletic.
Impact
Duke's head coach Jon Scheyer does not want to rule out the possibility of Whitehead practicing if he can do a little bit Thursday. The freshman has not practiced since suffering his lower-leg injury Jan. 23 at Virginia Tech. If unable again Thursday, Whitehead is expected to sit out when the Blue Devils host North Carolina on Saturday.

Impact
After missing Saturday's contest as a result of the lower-leg injury he sustained Jan. 23 versus Virginia Tech, Whitehead's status still appears cloudy despite his recent MRI test results that revealed encouraging news. Should the 6-foot-7 freshman eventually remain sidelined Tuesday against the Demon Deacons, Mark Mitchell and Jacob Grandison should both take on additional minutes in his absence.
