Ryan Mela - Scores 16 in tournament loss Mela notched 16 points (7-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 36 minutes during Thursday's 85-72 loss to St. John's. Impact Mela scored 16 points in his fourth consecutive game Thursday, but it was not enough to avoid elimination at the hands of the Red Storm. With the loss, Mela and the Friars' season comes to a close. He made 32 appearances (21 starts) this season and averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 25.6 minutes per game. He showed signs of being a consistent producer from a scoring perspective and on the glass during the second half of the season, so the sophomore figures to be an important player for Providence next season should he return.
