Alex Barcello - Game-high 24 points for BYU Barcello recorded 24 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 13-13 FT), two rebounds and four assists across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 69-59 win over Cleveland St.

Impact BYU's leading scorer from a season ago picked up from where he left off with a game-high 24 points, and over half of his points came from the charity stripe. He was one of just two players in double figures for the Cougars, as Barcello will take on an even larger role in the offense with the departures of Brandon Averette and Matt Haarms.

Richard Harward - Set to miss time Coach Mark Pope said Harward (knee) is dealing with cardiovascular issues and will be sidelined indefinitely, BYU broadcaster Greg Wrubell reports.

Impact Harward exited last week's exhibition contest with a knee injury, but he's apparently contending with more serious medical issues. It's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined, though Pope said the big man "won't be able to play for awhile."

Gavin Baxter - Starting opener Baxter is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's season opener against Cleveland State, Greg Wrubell of BYU Sports reports.

Impact Baxter played just two games last season after suffering an ACL injury in late November. The first 6-9 forward was cleared for full activity back at the end of August and will get an opportunity to solidify his role in the starting five with a strong performance to kick off the new campaign.

Richard Harward - Picks up knee injury Harward picked up a knee injury in Thursday's exhibition against Colorado Christian, Jeff Call of The Deseret News reports.

Impact Harward injured his knee five minutes into the game and while he returned to the bench before the end of the first half, he didn't play the rest of the game due to precautionary reasons. As things stand now, Harward should be questionable for the season opener against Cleveland State on Nov. 9.

Seneca Knight - Immediately eligible to play Knight received a waiver from the NCAA on Friday to be immediately eligible to play for BYU this season.

Impact Knight announced his commitment to the Cougars back in August but needed a waiver to compete immediately due to this being his second time transferring. The 6-7 forward formerly spent time at San Jose State where he started 51 of a possible 66 games over the course of three years before opting out after four games last season due to COVID-19 concerns. His best season came during 2019-20 when he averaged 17.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a steal in 32.2 minutes per game. Knight is a significant addition to the roster and should see significant minutes right away.
