Plays nine minutes in return Rojas (wrist) registered two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across nine minutes during Tuesday's 82-64 victory over Mississippi.
Impact Rojas missed the team's last game due to a wrist injury, but he returned to provide small additions on both ends of the floor during his nine minutes. Rojas has started one game this season, so he figures to continue providing frontcourt depth off the bench. Through eight games this season, the junior is averaging 3.9 points and 3.6 rebounds over 14.8 minutes.

Warming up Tuesday Rojas (wrist) is warming up ahead of Tuesday's contest against Ole Miss, Charlie Potter of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact Rojas was a scratch in the Crimson Tide's most recent contest against East Tennessee due to a wrist injury, but the forward appears to be ready to return to the court. The junior is currently averaging 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Not living up to expectations Bruner is averaging 6.9 points and 5.3 rebounds currently this year with Alabama.
Impact The former Yale Bulldog is not living up to expectations with the Crimson Tide so far this season, as Bruner is coming off back-to-back campaigns averaging at least 10 points and eight rebounds per game. The center has only scored in double figures just one time in eight outings.

Disappointing start to year Petty is posting 12.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists over the first seven games this year.
Impact Petty has recorded a couple strong starts so far, namely tallying a season high 22 points against UNLV on Dec. 1. However, the Crimson Tide are expecting more from the guard, who had a stellar junior campaign when he averaged 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds. Petty is also shooting a career-worst 28 percent from three.

Off to superb start Shackelford is averaging 14.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists over Alabama's first eight games this year.
Impact The sophomore most recently posted a season high with 26 points against East Tennessee on Dec. 22 which included draining a career-best eight threes. It was Shackelford's seventh game reaching double figures offensively. The guard also managed a double-double this year, posting 18 points and 11 rebounds in the season opener.

Wrist injury revealed Coach Nate Oats revealed Monday that Rojas is dealing with a sprained wrist but still expects him to play Tuesday against Ole Miss.
Impact Both Rojas and senior John Petty sat out Tuesday due to what Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News described as a "coach's decision," but it appears something else is in play with Rojas. It was reported early Tuesday morning that the duo would play, but Oats' press conference later seemed to add caveats to that, as he added "provided that they're both healthy." It remains likely that Rojas is a go, but the Alabama lineup may be worth checking up on prior to tip-off. Rojas started Dec. 19 against Western Kentucky after coming off the bench in the six games prior.

SEC play starts for Ole Miss, Bama

Mississippi visits Alabama as conference play starts for both teams
DECEMBER 28, 2020 • Associated Press
Cleared for SEC opener Alabama head coach Nate Oats said Rojas (undisclosed) will be available Tuesday for the Crimson Tide's game against Mississippi, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact An unspecified issue prevented Rojas from playing in Alabama's last game Dec. 22 versus East Tennessee State, but the junior big man looks like he'll be ready to go after a one-week hiatus. Rojas has made seven appearances (one start) for Alabama in 2020-21, averaging 4.1 points and 3.7 boards in 15.6 minutes per contest.

Ready for SEC opener Alabama head coach Nate Oats said Petty (undisclosed) will be available Tuesday for the Crimson Tide's game against Mississippi, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Petty returns to action after sitting out Alabama's 85-69 win over East Tennessee State on Dec. 22 due to what the Tuscaloosa News called a "coach's decision." Assuming he's out of the dog house, look for the senior guard to immediately step back into a high-minute role on the wing, likely resulting in Jahvon Quinerly shifting back to the second unit. All indications are that this is the case, as Cecil Hurt of The Tuscaloosa News reports Petty receiving commendations on his attitude over the last three days of practice, with coach Nate Oats suggesting "Well get him in early."

Out Tuesday Rojas won't play in Tuesday's matchup against East Tennessee State, Cecil Hurt of The Tuscaloosa News reports.
Impact Rojas, along with teammate John Petty, will both be inactive due to undisclosed issues. Rojas' next opportunity to take the floor looms next Tuesday against Ole Miss. Jordan Bruner will start in Rojas' absence.

Won't play Tuesday Petty won't play in Tuesday's game against East Tennessee State, Cecil Hurt of The Tuscaloosa News reports.
Impact It's currently unclear as to why Petty will miss Tuesday's contest, as coach Nate Oats mentioned that it's an "in-house decision." Petty should have a good chance at returning to the floor for the Crimson Tide's next contest, as it's a week from Tuesday against Ole Miss.

Six turnovers in bench role Quinerly had nine points (4-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists and six turnovers across 21 minutes off the bench in Saturday's loss to Western Kentucky.
Impact Quinerly came off the bench for the first time this year after six consecutive starts to begin the season, as coach Nate Oats was unimpressed with his defensive effort last week against Furman. Things didn't get much better Saturday, as he racked up as many turnovers as all of the other primary ball-handlers combined. Quinerly will have one more chance to prove himself Tuesday against ETSU before SEC play begins the following week.

Gets starting nod Rojas will join the starting five for Saturday's game against Western Kentucky.
Impact Rojas takes the place of Jahvon Quinerly in the starting five Saturday after posting the best game of the season last time out versus Furman, tallying 11 points and eight boards. He could see a few extra minutes as a result of the shift into the starting lineup.
DECEMBER 19, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Retreating to bench Saturday Quinerly was left out of the starting five for Saturday's game against Western Kentucky.
Impact Quinerly played a season-low 17 minutes in the Tide's last game against Furman after receiving critical comments from head coach Nate Oats on his defensive efforts. It seems as though Quinerly's lack of work on the defensive end will cost him his starting spot for the time being, but he should still see a healthy dose of minutes off the bench. James Rojas is receiving the start in his place.

Bama squares off against WKU

Western Kentucky and Alabama both look to put winning streaks together

Leads Tide's comeback effort Jones had a team-high 18 points (7-16 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT) to go along with 12 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in Tuesday's come-from-behind victory over Furman.
Impact Jones has steadily been producing for a fast-paced Nate Oats offense, as he's now leading the team in scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg). What's unique about his effort Tuesday was that he spent time down the stretch handling the ball as a point forward, due largely to point guard Jahvon Quinerly's struggles on defense. Jones now has a pair of assists or more in each of his last five games, making him a solid rotisserie option as a 6-8 forward.
DECEMBER 16, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Limited due to defensive effort Quinerly was limited to just 17 minutes in Tuesday's 83-80 victory over Furman, collecting three points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt) and three assists.
Impact According to Michael Casagrande of the Brimingham News, Quinerly didn't see the court much due to his defensive efforts. After the game, he drew criticism from coach Nate Oats for not closing hard enough, allowing the Paladins to have sustained success from beyond the arc. In Quinerly's place, backup point guard Joshua Primo saw 22 minutes of action, but down the stretch, it was forward Herb Jones doing quite a bit of the ball handling. It will certainly be interesting to see if Quinerly can redeem himself in another tough, non-conference game Saturday against Western Kentucky.
