Rinus VeeKay became the second NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver to part company with his team Sept. 2, as media reports and social media posts indicated he was leaving Dale Coyne Racing after one season.
VeeKay, 24, issued an Instagram post thanking Coyne for its efforts this season, which ended Sunday, Aug. 31 at Nashville Superspeedway. The team responded:
“It was an amazing year, thank you for giving us your best day in and day out. We want to wish you the best of luck on all your future endeavors.”
The posts came on the same day Team Penske announced it was parting ways with Will Power, its most-winning INDYCAR SERIES driver in history.
Dutchman VeeKay finished 14th in the 2025 series standings in the No. 18 askROI Honda with a best finish of second at Toronto (photo, above). He was the last full-time driver named to the grid, joining the team in February after spending the first five seasons of his career at Ed Carpenter Racing.
VeeKay’s arrival at DCR spawned a dramatic uptick in form for the veteran NTT INDYCAR SERIES team. The No. 18 car that VeeKay drove this season finished 27th and last among the full-time entries in the series in 2024.
DCR has made no announcement about VeeKay’s replacement for the 2026 season.
