Jones puts up 23, South Alabama beats Northern Illinois 75-66

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Tyrell Jones had 23 points in South Alabama's 75-66 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday night.

Jones added three steals for the Jaguars (12-13, 4-8 Sun Belt Conference). Julian Margrave scored 12 points and added six rebounds. Elijah Ormiston finished 4 of 7 from the field to finish with 10 points.

Xavier Amos led the Huskies (8-15, 2-8 Mid-American Conference) in scoring, finishing with 16 points. Zarigue Nutter added 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for Northern Illinois. Zion Russell also had 13 points and eight rebounds.

South Alabama plays Thursday against Texas State at home, and Northern Illinois hosts Buffalo on Tuesday.
