Burford leads Illinois State over SIU Edwardsville 77-71

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Darius Burford had 20 points to guide Illinois State to a 77-71 victory over SIU Edwardsville on Saturday night.

Burford had five rebounds for the Redbirds (5-6). Colton Sandage added 16 points and five rebounds. Seneca Knight scored 12.

The Cougars (7-4) were led by Ray'Sean Taylor with 20 points. Shamar Wright added 12 points and six rebounds, while Terrance Thompson contributed 11 points and six rebounds.

Sandage scored seven points in the first half and Illinois State went into halftime trailing 34-33. Burford's 16-point second half helped Illinois State close out the six-point victory.
