Snatches neck as sizeable underdog Elliott defeated Kai Asakura via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:39 of Round 2 at UFC 319 on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois.

Impact It looked like Elliott was searching for his offense early, but he was able to catch a kick and bring Asakura to the ground at the end of Round 1. The fight took on a different look thereafter, with the Japanese fighter looking timid, and the former title challenger advancing while landing shots. This culminated in a takedown that allowed Elliott to find his opponent's neck in a scramble. At 38 years old, it's difficult to imagine that Elliott can make a run at the top of this division, but he will be a tough out whenever he is in the cage. Elliott improves to 21-13-1 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
