Victim of early ref stoppage
Woodson lost to Dan Ige via TKO (punches) at 1:12 of Round 3 at UFC 314 on Saturday in Miami.
Impact
Entering unbeaten in his last seven fights (6-0-1), Woodson got a significant step up in competition here against Ige. For the most part, he handled it well. He and Ige fought to even terms for the first two rounds, although we later found out the latter was up 20-18 on both scorecards. Woodson got clipped with a big right hand early in Round 3 which left him wobbled. Ige exploded forward in search of the finish, and while referee Andrew Glenn's stoppage appeared to be premature, Sean was most definitely in trouble. At 6-foot-2, Woodson is about the biggest featherweight you will ever see. He's a long, rangy striker, but his grappling game is lacking and he doesn't land many notable blows. Woodson's ceiling is probably that of a fringe top-10 guy, which is where he is right now.
