Fights to UFC 327 draw Mederos and Chris Padilla fought to a majority draw (27-29, 28-28, 28-28) at UFC 327 on Saturday in Miami.

Impact This was about the weirdest set of circumstances you will ever see. It was announced as a majority decision win for Padilla originally. Perhaps an hour later, the result was corrected. It sure felt as if Mederos dropped a unanimous decision, but two judges actually scored the fight for him and he somehow would have won had he not been docked a point in Round 3 for repeated eye pokes. Mederos not only will walk away with the draw, but he'll walk away with 20 percent of Padilla's purse after the latter missed weight by two pounds on Friday morning. The 29-year-old Texan remains unbeaten (3-0-1) in his first four UFC fights.

Fighting heavier opponent Mederos missed weight for his scheduled fight against Chris Padilla for UFC 327 next Saturday at Miami, according to Nolan King of MMA Junkie.

Impact Mederos was scheduled against Nazim Sadykhov, but the latter is out, and Padilla is in instead. Mederos has been perfect in the UFC, with a 3-0 record to back his relatively strong start with the promotion.

Impact Mederos was scheduled to face Bolaji Oki a week ago before withdrawing due to illness. He was quite fortunate to fight a follow-up fight so quickly, especially one against a weaker, debuting opponent. Blessed with a huge advantage on the feet in terms of speed and fluidity, Mederos just kept moving and pick Choinski apart, primarily with leg kicks. He faded a bit down the stretch, but the result was never in doubt. The 28-year-old Texan is now a perfect 3-0 in the UFC, although all three wins have come via decision.

Impact Mederos was originally scheduled for a scrap against Bolaji Oki at UFC Vegas 107 on May 31, but he was pulled from that bout for undisclosed reasons (Oki went on to defeat Michael Aswell on that card). It turns out the withdrawal of Mederos wasn't due to health concerns, as he'll fight just a week later against a UFC newcomer. Choinski is undefeated as a pro, competing primarily under the Anthony Pettis-ran promotion in Milwaukee.

Impact Mederos will look to remain perfect in the UFC. Most recently, he took care of business against Austin Hubbard back in March winning that bout by split decision. His opponent Oki, meanwhile, is coming off a loss at the hands of Chris Duncan that dropped his UFC record to 1-1.

Impact This was a strange fight. Mederos, making just his second UFC appearance, was clearly the better man on the rare instances in which he was able to stay upright, but he spent more than half the bout (7:34) pinned to the mat by Hubbard. Mederos was on his way to dropping a decision before landing one huge elbow in the final frame which was enough to sway things in the eyes of two of the three judges. Mederos recently moved to Arizona to join the guys at the MMA Lab full-time, so we know he'll be getting elite training on a daily basis, but the Texas native has just 11 pro fights -- all against lower-level competition -- under his belt at age 28.
