Remains perfect in UFC Micallef defeated Themba Gorimbo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Perth, Australia.

Impact This fight was closer than it needed to be, but Micallef deserves credit for showing off his entire arsenal in the victory. He won Round 1 on the strength of a takedown and some control time. He won Round on the strength of the fact he doubled up Gorimbo in significant strikes. In between, he spent nearly four minutes in a disadvantageous position in Round 2, but he ultimately figured it out. Micallef earned his UFC opportunity with a first-round submission win on Dana White's Contender Series in October 2024. He officially joined the roster in February 2025 and has responded with three straight wins to begin his run.

Will face Themba Gorimbo Micallef will face Themba Gorimbo in a welterweight bout at UFC Perth on May 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Impact Micallef remains perfect at the UFC level after defeating Oban Elliott via technical submission at UFC 325 in Sydney earlier this year. He's 2-0 at the UFC level, but facing Gorimbo could be complicated since the latter has far more experience at this level.

Remains perfect in UFC Micallef defeated Oban Elliott via technical submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:21 of Round 2 at UFC 325 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.

Impact This fight was due to take place last September, at which point Elliott withdrew a couple days prior due to illness. They got it on here, and for the most part, Micallef looked pretty lousy. His striking was quite reckless and his stand-up defense was compromised due to Elliott's speed edge. Micallef finally shot a takedown midway through Round 2 and landed it, with the bout essentially being over at that point. Micallef's striking isn't very good, but he's young enough (27 in March) to make improvements and he clearly has a clue on the mat. He's 2-0 in the UFC in addition to picking up a submission win on Dana White's Contender Series back in October 2024.

Fight finally re-booked Micallef will take on Oban Elliott in a welterweight matchup at UFC 325 on Jan. 31, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Impact The two were set to throw down at UFC Perth back in September, but Elliott was forced to withdraw due to illness. Now, Micallef will get another shot to improve to 2-0 in two UFC bouts after getting his shot via Contender Series in October of 2024. Micallef will enter with a five-inch reach advantage, and while it's only been two fights, his 4.77 significant strikes landed per minute also appears to be an advantage.

Won't fight at UFC Perth Micallef's scheduled fight against Oban Elliott at UFC Perth on Sept. 27 has been canceled due to illness, Nolan King of USA Today reports.

Impact Elliott came down with an illness a few days away from the fight, resulting in the bout being called off. Micallef is in the midst of a three-fight winning streak but will need to wait a bit longer for a chance to continue his winning ways.
