Barely survives Cody Brundage Johnson defeated Cody Brundage via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 326 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Impact Any way you slice it, this was a horrible performance from Johnson. When you entering as a -900 favorite and facing Brundage, you are not only expected to win, but to do so impressively. Instead, Johnson was mighty lucky two of the three judges thought he did enough. He looked stiff and out of sorts on the feet the entire fight despite the fact he landed the bigger blows. He also allowed a pair of takedowns and four-plus minutes of control time to Cody. Donte would have been in a ton of trouble if he was facing an opponent known for putting in more work in their fights than Brundage typically does. Johnson has some work to do despite the fact he's a perfect 8-0 as a professional and 2-0 with the UFC.

Opponent change for UFC 326 Johnson will now face Cody Brundage in a middleweight matchup at UFC 326 on March 7 following the withdrawal of Dusko Todorovic (undisclosed), Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Impact Johnson will have to deal with an opponent change on just a few weeks' notice, and while Brundage is more experienced, Johnson is the undefeated fighter who has seen more recent success. He submitted Sedriques Dumas in his official UFC debut last November, following up a first-round finish on Contender Series the previous August. Brundage, meanwhile, has lost back-to-back fights and is without a win since march of 2025. It's a small sample size, but Johnson has superior statistical marks in virtually all striking and wrestling numbers.

To fight again in March Johnson will fight Dusko Todorovic at UFC 236 on March 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Impact The fight will be Johnson's second UFC bout after he defeated Sedriques Dumas via submission back in November. His opponent, Torodovic, has lost three of his last four fights.

Rolls in UFC debut Johnson defeated Sedriques Dumas via submission (ninja choke) at 1:25 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Impact Johnson appeared on Dana White's Contender Series in late August, picking up a 64-second knockout win and earning his UFC contract in the process. He made his official company debut here against Dumas as a -375 favorite and dominated. He showed off his entire arsenal, battering Dumas with power shots, landing all three of his takedown attempts, and ultimately securing the first submission win of his career. The early returns on the 26-year-old Wisconsin native are extremely positive.

New opponent scheduled Johnson is scheduled against Sedriques Dumas in a middleweight fight at UFC Vegas 110 on Nov. 1, according to Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com.

Impact Even though Johnson earned a UFC contract as a heavyweight, he had been scheduled to fight Nick Klein at middleweight. The MW route is how Johnson plans to start his UFC career, and he can do so against Dumas, who is currently 1-2 (1) in his last four fights.

Debuting in in Vegas Johnson will take on Nick Klein in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 110 on Nov. 1, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.

Impact Johnson will make his UFC debut in November after earning a contract at Dana White's Contender Series in August. The 5-foot-8 Wisconsin native with a 74'' reach hasn't lost a bout since 2023 in the APFC. His opponent Klein, meanwhile, is also looking for his first UFC win. However, he's off to an 0-2 start in the promotion and will be desperate to pick up his first victory in the Octagon.

Impact In the opening bout of the evening, both heavyweights came out looking to swing, but it was the undefeated Johnson who had the speed advantages, and his strikes found their mark first. He backed his opponent up against the fence, and it wasn't long before referee Mark Smith was calling off the proceedings. Johnson entered this fight as the noticeably smaller man, as he stands at 5-foot-8 and weighed in at only 209 pounds. A move to light heavyweight, or even lower, could be on the horizon, especially considering he likely didn't have to cut weight at all for this fight.
