Fighting Costa in Houston Ige will fight Melquizael Costa at UFC Houston on Feb. 21, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Impact Ige dropped his most recent fight to Patricio Pitbull in July, marking the former's third loss across his last four fights. With Costa riding a five-fight winning streak entering the event, momentum will certainly not be in Ige's favor in February.

Inconsistent ways continue Ige lost to Patricio Freire via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 318 on Saturday in New Orleans.

Impact This felt like a fight Ige absolutely had to have as a -175 favorite against a guy that struggled mightily in his UFC debut and he didn't get it. Ige allowed two takedowns in the opening round and five in total on nine attempts. He only gave up 2:44 worth of control time and absorbed little damage on the mat but the Pitbull takedowns served to book end what was generally a close fight on the fight. Ige got rocked in Round 2 before landing one huge blow on Pitbull in Round 3. He simply didn't generate enough offense over the course of the first 10 minutes to win a decision. Ige deserves major props for his willingness to fight any opponent at any time, but he's still sporting a 2-4 record in his last half dozen bouts dating back to September 2023, leaving him light years from title contention.

Impact Desperate to snap a two-fight losing streak, Ige can through in a big spot. All the talk is going to be about the awful early stoppage from referee Andrew Glenn, but it turns out Ige -- probably incorrectly -- was up two rounds on all three scorecards entering the final frame and would have won a decision as long as he managed to see the final bell. Ige definitely landed the bigger blows, while the volume appeared to be in Woodson's favor. It ended up not making a difference because of one big Ige right hand which set forth the sequence of events which ended the fight. Ige has a long history of coming up short against the best the featherweight division has to offer, but he's high-end roster depth for a company which holds an event most every Saturday.
