Dana White: UFC to hold event in South Korea for first time in 2015
The UFC has big plans for Asia and the next step is hosting an event in a new country.
UFC president Dana White told UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani that the UFC will bring a card to South Korea for the first time in 2015. No date has been announced yet, but the show will be held in Seoul.
The UFC is coming off a huge show last week in Japan that featured Mark Hunt knocking out Roy Nelson in the main event and a plethora of Asian fighters. The organization also visited Macao twice this year and Singapore.
There are a few Korean fighters on the UFC roster. Welterweight contender Dong Hyun Kim and former featherweight No. 1 contender Chan Sung Jung would be no-brainers for the first South Korean event. Hyun Gyu Lim and Kyung Ho Kang, both winners Saturday in Japan, would likely be showcased, as well.
Then there's Yoshihiro Akiyama, who is half-Korean and relatively famous in South Korea. There's also a pretty good chance the UFC would feature "Sexyama" in Seoul as well.
Another step in the UFC's vision for world [expletive] domination.
