Bayern start new season vs. Hamburg; Dortmund host Gladbach
Bayern Munich will get the new Bundesliga season under way with a home game against Hamburg, who avoided relegation last season via a play-off.
The first game of the 53rd season of the Bundesliga will take place on Friday August 14 at the Allianz Arena with the defending champions hosting Hamburg in a repeat of their opening day meeting from 2008.
Bayern won that game 2-1 and they will be hoping for a similar outcome as they start their bid for a fourth straight Bundesliga title.
Elsewhere in the opening round of the season, Thomas Tuchel has been given a tough debut on the Borussia Dortmund bench with Borussia Monchengladbach - who finished third last season - the visitors to the Westfalenstadion.
New Schalke coach Andre Breitenreiter leads his side to Werder Bremen while Bayer Leverkusen, fourth last term behind Bayern, Wolfsburg and Monchengladbach, host Hoffenheim.
The two promoted sides, Ingolstadt and Darmstadt, take on Mainz and Hannover respectively, while Stuttgart start out at home to Cologne and Armin Veh begins his second stint as Eintracht Frankfurt coach with a trip to Wolfsburg.
Finally, Augsburg kick off a season which will include European football for the first time with a home match against Hertha Berlin.
Further down the fixture list, Bayern face Bayer Leverkusen on the third matchday before Wolfsburg visit Munich six weeks into the season, with Borussia Dortmund the visitors at the Allianz Arena a fortnight later.
There are two derbies in early November with Borussia Dortmund hosting Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen entertaining Cologne.
Bayern will face their new Bavarian rivals Ingolstadt on the penultimate weekend of the season, a week after facing Monchengladbach and before ending the campaign at home to Hannover.
They will be hoping to have wrapped up the title already by then, as they have done in the past three seasons.
