AC Milan let three points slip away; Frosinone draw Atalanta
MILAN --
AC Milan was held to a 2-2 draw at Empoli in an entertaining match in Serie A on Saturday.
Milan twice took the lead through Carlos Bacca and Giacomo Bonaventura but Piotr Zielinski and Massimo Maccarone canceled out the visitors' goals. Mario Balotelli almost won the match for Milan in stoppage time but scuffed his shot. The forward had already been flagged offside.
Milan remained sixth, provisionally 11 points behind Serie A leader Napoli, and seven behind Inter, which it plays in a derby match next Sunday. Empoli is a point behind Milan.
FROSINONE 0, ATALANTA 0
A match between two teams unable to buy a win finished in fitting fashion as struggling Frosinone and Atalanta played out a goalless draw on Saturday.
Frosinone are now without a win in seven matches, five points adrift of safety, while Atalanta have not won in six as they have slid to the lower end of mid-table. Chances were at a premium, with Frosinone's Federico Dionisi blazing wide from close range in the 32nd minute while Nicola Leali twice denied Atalanta's Gaetano Monachello, who was unlucky to have an overhead kick saved.
Alejandro Gomez volleyed wide in the second half but it finished in a goalless draw which does little to help either team.
