Wild sign Granlund, Prosser and ex-Gopher Reilly to two-year contracts
The Wild announced a few roster moves on Wednesday, bringing back a couple of their own players and signing a free agent with local connections.
Minnesota re-signed center Mikael Granlund and defenseman Nate Prosser to two-year deals, while giving former Gophers defenseman Mike Reilly a two-year, entry-level contract.
Granlund, a 23-year-old from Finland, finished last season with 39 points, including eight goals. He had a plus-17 rating and averaged 17:54 TOI in 68 games with the Wild. His plus-minus ranked third on the club and his scoring was fifth. Granlund set career highs in 2014-15 in games played, plus-minus, hits, faceoffs taken, faceoffs won and TOI/game.
In 10 playoff contests last year, the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder had six points, including a couple of goals, and a rating of plus-2.
Prosser, 29, collected seven points, including two goals, and 32 penalty minutes in 63 games last season. He was claimed by Minnesota off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 2, 2014. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound veteran, a native of Elk River, Minn., set career highs in games played and shots in 2014-15.
Reilly, a 21-year-old Chicago native who grew up in Chanhassen, Minn., left Minnesota after collecting 42 points, including six goals, in 39 games during his junior season last year. He was named a Hobey Baker Memorial Award Finalist and led all NCAA defensemen in scoring and assists. The 6-foot-1, 182-pound Reilly led the Gophers in scoring, assists and plus-minus rating. He led the nation with 19 power-play assists and was tied for third with 21 power-play points.
