WIAA Division 1: Kimberly posts wild, 49-42 comeback triumph
In a wild WIAA Division 1 state title game, Blair Mulholland scored a 1-yard touchdown run with 11 seconds left, helping Kimberly complete a 49-42 comeback victory over Arrowhead at Madison's Camp Randall Stadium.
The late touchdown capped a record-setting game for Mulholland, as he churned up a Division 1 championship-record 341 rushing yards, to go along with four touchdowns.
Arrowhead (12-2 overall) was led by Justin Peret's record-setting performance, as he had five catches for 173 yards and two scores; Peret's receiving yardage represented a record for a Division 1 title game. Arrowhead also got 275 passing yards and three scores from Johnny Duranso.
Kimberly, which also beat Arrowhead in last year's title game, trailed by 21 points at one juncture on Friday. The Papermakers also got 10 receptions, 125 yards and three TDs from Jordan Janssen in their victory.
