Weekend Blitz: NFL Week 5 picks

Published Oct. 9, 2015 11:03 a.m. ET

Welcome to another edition of "Weekend Blitz," a column that will appear on FOXSports.com each Friday during the football season. Consider this one of your must-read features as you wrap up the week and head into a Saturday and Sunday filled with pigskin. We'll be giving out NFL picks, possibly some college football picks and plug some of the best content from the world of sports and pop culture.

Please come back every Friday, check FOXSports.com/Buzzer or follow me, @JimmyTraina, on Twitter.

Another 2-2 effort in Week 4 puts the season record at an embarrassing 9-8. We love the board this week, which usually ends up being a disaster, but we're confident that won't be the case this time around.

BENGALS -3 VS. SEAHAWKS: After the Patriots and Packers, the Bengals might very well be the third-best team in the NFL. They're only laying three points against a Seahawks team that doesn't play nearly as well on the road as they do at home. Cincinnati can make believers out of people who haven't bought into its 4-0 record. The Seattle offense has been completely unimpressive this season and with Marshawn Lynch still not 100 percent and his availability still uncertain for this game, we think this will be an easy cover for the Bengals.

PATRIOTS -9 AT COWBOYS: Very simple analysis for this game: Bill Belichick vs. Brandon Weeden, who is 5-18 in his career as a starting quarterback. Good night.

REDSKINS +7 AT FALCONS: We gave you the Redskins last week against the Eagles and we're going right back to them thanks to the seven points. Julio Jones has been unstoppable right now and running back Davonta Freeman is playing out of his mind. But Washington, with a heavy dose of Alfred Morris and the top rushing attack in the NFL in addition to an improving QB Kirk Cousins, will hang around and keep this close.

CHIEFS -9 VS. BEARS: The Bears had to fight for dear life to get a win at home against the Raiders last week, but this is a tough spot for them. The Chiefs are coming off road losses at Green Bay and at Cincinnati. Returning home and playing in Arrowhead is just what they need to turn things around. Jay Cutler is still not 100 percent for the Bears, but even if the was, he'd be good for two or three picks in this one.

RAIDERS +5 VS. BRONCOS: Oakland has improved greatly under new coach Jack Del Rio, but it still isn't ready to be a road favorite, as it was last week in Chicago. However, as a home dog, the Raiders are a great play.

● Now 13-1
