Published Apr. 30, 2018 12:49 p.m. ET

Tyler Duffey's first stint of 2018 with the Minnesota Twins was short-lived, as the team optioned him to Triple-A Rochester just six days after recalling him.

The Twins sent Duffey down on Monday and recalled right-handed pitcher John Curtiss to take his place on the 25-man roster.

Duffey made three appearances with Minnesota and allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. He allowed four home runs and fanned four hitters while walking one.

Curtiss has given up three runs on seven hits in 9 1/3 innings this season with Rochester, recording 17 strikeouts and two walks. He made his MLB debut with Minnesota last season and allowed eight earned runs in 8 2/3 innings in 2017.
