Twins option pitcher Meyer to Triple-A

The Twins announced late Friday night that they had optioned right-handed pitcher Alex Meyer to Triple-A Rochester.

Meyer, a prized prospect, made two appearances for the Twins, allowing five runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings pitched, with three walks and three strikeouts. In minor-league action this season, the 25-year-old Meyer has gone 3-3 with a 5.11 ERA over 56 1/3 innings pitched, with 61 strikeouts and 30 walks.

Minnesota will make a corresponding roster move on Saturday.
